Direct debits and Standing Orders

Rent Direct debit (Council Housing)

We can set up regular payments from your bank or building society account on your behalf. You can download an app to your smartphone for your bank or building society, check their website for more details. Payment by this method is covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

Choose to pay by -

  • weekly instalments (50 weeks with 2 free weeks over the Christmas period)
  • 12 monthly instalments (on the 1, 6, 13, 20, 27 or 31 of each month)

The easiest way to set up a Direct Debit is to ring our Housing Finance team on 01482 613 636. If you prefer you can complete and return our Direct Debit mandate.

If you are in receipt of housing benefit and have a rent payment to make, a monthly direct debit is not an option. But you can set up a standing order for the amount, refer to ‘Transfers or Standing Order’ below.

Transfers or standing orders

You can transfer a one-off payment or set up regular payments from your bank or building society through online banking, telephone banking by downloading your bank or building society's app to your smartphone. Alternatively, you can fill in the standing order form and return directly to your bank or building society. You can access the standing order forms, amend and cancel mandates below.
