Registering a birth
When a child is born you must register the birth within 42 days of the date of birth. The child should be registered in the registration district in which it was born.
For babies born in Hull, you can book an appointment to register the birth at Hull Register Office. This is located within The Wilson Centre on Alfred Gelder Street.
To avoid the need to travel into the city centre, we also offer appointments at Priory Family Hub in West Hull and Longhill Family Hub in East Hull. Appointments at these locations are only available certain days each week.
If the appointment system does not display any appointments at your chosen location, there are no appointments available to book at the current time. Check back later or select an alternative location. Appointments are released at regular intervals.
Appointments must be booked online and cannot be booked over the telephone.
If you are having problems attending or booking an appointment, contact us at register.office@hullcc.gov.uk.

If you live outside of Hull and want to register at your local register office, contact that office to enquire about completing a declaration. It is possible for an alternative office to gather the information needed to register the birth. In doing so they will ask you to sign a declaration. They will then send this declaration to us. This will allow us to complete the registration without you needing to be present.
If you have recently completed a declaration and want a copy of the birth certificate, please allow 3 working days for the registration to be completed and then use the form below to request a certificate.
