Edinburgh Street Community Centre was opened in 1986. It was a purpose-built facility to provide support to residents.

The centre offered a range of activities such as -

  • bingo
  • line dancing
  • carpet bowls
  • walking groups
  • pantos

In 1997, Job Link also operated daily at the centre and supported unemployed residents into further training or employment. In this year alone, the centre helped 166 people gain employment.

Edinburgh Street Community Centre is also home to the Spirit of Hessle Road Mural. A site which highlights the stories of those who started life on Hessle Road and later achieved fame and notoriety. It features personalities such as Lillian Bilocca, who following the Hull triple trawler tragedy, campaigned for improved safety in the fishing industry.
