Established in 1949, the North Hull Community Centre was created through the hard work of volunteers who brought their skills together and a donation of $25,000 from the American Congress of Industrial Organisations and the American Federation of Labour for the welcome Hull gave to their soldiers stationed here in World War Two.

Similar to other community centres, North Hull ran its summer playschemes during the 1980s and 1990s and attracted around 200 children a day.

Over the last 70 years there has been a range of activities that has taken place at the centre, such as:

  • Bowling clubs
  • Carer support group
  • Coffee mornings
  • Dementia support groups
  • Dressmaking
  • Keep fit classes
  • Line dancing
  • MS support groups
  • Older people lunch clubs
  • Organised holidays
  • Singing groups
  • Sliming World
  • Youth clubs

A number of the activities above still continue at the centre today, with work recently undertaken to improve the stage and building.
