Course Title Attachment Trauma and Brain Development
Course Information

To give participants an overview of the key elements relating to attachment, trauma, and brain development in children.

By the end of the course participants will -

  • have an understanding of what ‘attachment’ means. This includes the most commonly recognised styles
  • have a knowledge to the evolving theory
  • have an appreciation of the role that ‘shame’ plays in children and families lives
  • have an understanding of the ‘Internal Working Model’ and be able to link this to their own practice
  • have a basic understanding of the developing brain and the impact of trauma upon this
  • have a basic understanding of therapeutic approaches and the importance of building trust
  • be able to bring a ‘trauma lens’ to their practice
  • be able to identify the ‘gaps’ they need to fill in their own practice
