Fostering Excellence - portfolio building level 2 - Learning and Development courses

Foster carers have the opportunity through the Training, Support and Development Standards and the Fostering Excellence scheme to use their growing knowledge and skills to make a valuable contribution to the Fostering service.

The development of the Fostering service relies on the support of the foster carers and the Fostering Excellence scheme provides a framework which carers can use to underpin their decisions regarding their own learning and development whilst making the best use of their existing skills.

Carers may value the opportunity to learn how to structure their portfolio and present evidence in a way which is accessible to both their assessing officer and the verifier.

In these sessions, carers will be helped to make the best use of peer support to -

• put their portfolios together
• recognise how to build a portfolio
• discuss ways of collecting evidence
• identify ways of making your evidence accessible
