Course Title Introduction to Hull CC car seats
Course Information

An introduction to the child car seats that are used by CYPS in Hull City Council, utilising the UN R44/04 regulations.

The course will look to give confidence on -

  • correct fittings in any car
  • how to check If the seat is age and size appropriate
  • how to overcome objections from other adults and children
  • what the safety implications are for an incorrectly fitted seat

They should also understand why HCC has designated the seats that are used.

At the end of the session, the participant should be able to -

  • identify the appropriate seat for the child in care
  • correctly fit the designated seats via isofix and seat belts
  • be able to adjust each seat throughout the development of the child
  • spot common errors, such as belt twists or slack harnesses, and correct them
  • have confidence to refuse to transport a child if they feel safety is at risk
  • fully understand the HCC process around seats and why we adopt this approach
Course length 2.5 hours
Target group

CYPS StreetScene Passenger Transport staff that transport children aged 0 to 12 years old either frequently or infrequently. In addition, individuals involved in foster care.
