Course Information

The course aims to help you to -

  • develop your role as a confident contributor when managing allegations against people who work or volunteer with children
  • help improve knowledge of handling allegations in your organisation, service, or community group
  • understand the role of the Local Authority Designated Officer in managing allegations in Hull
  • understand the legislation and guidance that underpins the allegation management process nationally
  • consider allegation management threshold and how to apply this
  • explore the contributions by the Police, Children’s Services, employer, fostering agency or community group leader, and regulatory or governing bodies
  • consider how to manage allegations for those who are self-employed
  • explore the complexity of safeguarding of children alongside the duty of care to an employee or volunteer
  • understand the outcome of an allegation including referral to the Disclosures and Barring Service
Course length 1.5 hours
Target group

For workers, managers, and leaders who are involved in responding to allegations and serious complaints in respect of team members, colleagues, employees, volunteers and foster carers.
