Course Information

This course looks at a particular type of abuse which happens to girls and sometimes women that is collectively known as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

The purpose of this elearning is to help you -

  • understand what the terms involved in FGM abuse refers to
  • become aware of how and why the abuse occurs
  • recognise the children and groups of women who are most at risk
  • understand the legal position regarding intervention
  • recognise the warning signs that a child is at risk
  • understand your role in helping to recognise and prevent signs that abuse is likely to occur
Course length 45 minutes

This awareness raising course is aimed at -

  • anyone who works with children and young people
  • anyone who comes into contact with children and young people as part of their role
