Plain English - Learning and Development courses

This course outlines the basics of plain English.

It will help you learn how to get your message across quickly and clearly.

Several practical writing exercises are included.

By the end of this course, you should understand -

• what we mean by 'plain English', and the efforts of the Plain English campaign
• the negative impact that confusing or misleading written information can have on customer satisfaction
• the need to tailor our language, especially jargon and terminology, to our audience
• the importance of planning, layout and structure
• the benefit of using simpler words and phrases, as opposed to longer or more 'official' language
