Course Information

Social workers, foster carers and all those who work with children & young people.

all participants will leave the session able to:

  • Define the term county lines
  • Outline the operational procedures involved in setting up a county line
  • Explain the methods used to groom, recruit and exploit young people
  • Understand the push and pull factors that contribute to a young person becoming vulnerable and susceptible to county lines involvement
  • Recognise key signs and indicators that young people are being exploited or at risk of county lines involvement
  • Explain the inter-relationship between serious youth violence and gang conflicts, and the fluidity of gang rivalries
  • Understand the relationship between county lines and other forms of criminal activity and exploitation (i.e. human trafficking, debt bondage, modern slavery and child sexual exploitation)
  • Explain the risks and consequences of county lines involvement
  • Understand the perspectives of survivors and perpetrators, including how girls are used
  • Develop their knowledge of how to best support young people at risk of county lines within a multi-agency partnership through case studies and group workshops
  • Analyse varying examples of county lines and how each example impacts the vulnerabilities of and risks to a child/young person in varying degrees
