On completion of this Bed Rails and Risk Management Awareness course, learners should know and understand the following:

  •  Legislation Be aware of the relevant legislation
  • About bed rails Understand what a bed side rail is
  • Bed rail function Understand why bed rails are used and why they are important
  • Benefits and risks Learn and understand the risks and considerations
  • Informed consent Learn how to ensure patient autonomy by obtaining informed consent for bed rail use  
  • Safe practice Understand proper bed rail fitting, usage techniques, and other strategies to minimise risks This is a ½ day course with a certificate of attendance on completion
