For safety reasons, electrical and gas supplies are turned off at the mains to all our empty properties. Properties are let to our tenants with the supplies still turned off.
You are then responsible to contact the gas and electrical suppliers of the property. You need to register with them and arrange for the meters to be fitted or read.
If they are pre-pay meters, ensure there is credit on the meters before a safety check is completed.
Once you have arranged for gas and electricity to be supplied to the property, you must contact your local area housing team. This is to arrange for us to carry out the safety checks and turn on the gas and electric supplies.
We need at least 48 hours' notice, excluding Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays. This lets us carry out electrical and gas safety inspections and commission any gas appliances.
