The Employment Hub is based on the first floor of Hull Central Library. It offers the following support -

  • tailored wrap around support to meet individual needs
  • CV writing
  • interview tips and techniques
  • mock interviews
  • support and guidance on job searching
  • advice and guidance on barriers into work
  • knowledge of employment and education opportunities with traineeships and apprenticeships
  • work placement opportunities and access to volunteering and training

Employability Support to Businesses

Upskilling Funding

Upskilling Support is a Hull City Council initiative. It aims to help local businesses use workforce skills interventions to raise their productivity and profitability.

  • the training needs to enhance the individual and the business
  • the training must not have already started or have previously taken place
  • the business to be based in Hull HU1 to HU9 postcode area
  • the training is for anyone who is directly employed by the business
  • training cannot be a legal requirement, for example, Health and Safety, or be partly funded by another grant
  • funding cannot be used to support charity or voluntary organisations
  • the funding available is 50% of the cost of training up to £3,000 excluding vat. For over £3,000 there is a £1500 payment, not 50%
  • payment to be made for the training upfront in full by the business.
  • proof of payment for the training is required in the form of a -
    • receipted invoice
    • remittance advice
    • bank statement

to show payment has been paid out of the company account, the agreed amount will then be paid. Payment can only be made to a business account, not a personal account.
