The Community Foundation Model

The community foundation model aims are -

Bring donors together to -

  • pool funds to create income for local grant-making
  • create flexibility to choose how and where their money is directed

Encourage strategic philanthropy, not just generous giving in response to emergencies or appeals. To assist the long-term needs of an area. This is achieved by -

  • planning
  • strategy
  • constructive giving

Be user-friendly grant-makers. This is achieved by –

  • advising and helping applicants
  • guiding them to other funders
  • linking them to extra services and support

The grants support very small groups and contribute toward larger programmes.

Provide a focal point for new initiatives -

  • bring local funders together
  • attract new sources of support from outside the area
  • draw in all sectors to create practical partnerships
  • develop an advisory committee - with considerable knowledge of community needs and opportunities

We are working with Two Ridings to create a single fund to support the Voluntary Sector in Hull.
