Equality analysis is an important part of the processes designed to improve council policies and services. It allows us to test whether they are fair and meet the needs of staff and the people living in or visiting Hull.
It also allows us to follow the Public Sector Equality Duty by evidencing ‘due regard’ against the 3 aims of the duty -
- the elimination of unlawful discrimination
- the advancement of equality of opportunity
- the fostering of good relations
By taking on equality analysis, decisions makers can assess and understand the impacts of any proposed policy and service changes. Then they can identify improvements to make services fairer and more efficient.
