We process data about perpetrators, witnesses, and any other related individuals associated with investigations.
The types of data we process includes information in the form of -
- names
- addresses
- dates of birth
- contact information for persons involved with investigations for example -
- perpetrators
- witnesses
- internal or external partners
- details of businesses and trading activities
- CCTV recordings retained for the purposes of investigations
- allegations of offences
- information about previous cautions and convictions. This includes spent convictions
We process personal data to meet our statutory duty to -
- reduce crime and disorder
- protect the environment and persons who may be at risk of harm. This includes safeguarding the welfare of the public
- inform decisions on the form of enforcement action and legal sanctions to be taken
We receive data from -
- members of the public
- local businesses
- other council departments
- external agencies and enforcement partners for example
- Humberside Police
- Humberside Fire and Rescue
- Environment Agency
- HM Customs and Excise
- UK Border Agency
- DVLA
- external private housing providers and landlords
- other local authorities
- voluntary sector organisations
We keep data safe and confidential, but we may be required to share it where -
- we are required by law to share it
- any person may be at risk of harm if the information is not shared
- it is necessary for the purposes of the prevention and detection of crime
We will not use any data provided by any person within legal proceedings without first obtaining consent from those concerned. They are those who are the source of such data and information.
We will keep data from investigations for 8 years from the date they are closed.
