Sites of special historical interest can be placed on the national register of parks and gardens. This list is compiled and maintained by Historic England. This is with the aim of identifying these sites and protecting them.
Registered parks and gardens are classified in grades to show how important they are in relation to each other.
- grade I sites are of exceptional historic interest
- grade II are of great historic interest
- grade III are of special historic interest
This grading is not affected by any listed buildings on the site.
