We have developed a Local Transport Plan (LTP) setting out the current and future priorities of how we will -
- manage
- maintain
- enhance
the city’s transport network.
The LTP 2020 to 2026 is the third version of its kind. It sets the city’s transport vision and challenges. LTP presents how these will be addressed and delivered moving forward.
How well a city’s transport system connects directly impacts on economic growth, and a -
- safe
- effective
- reliable
transport system is essential to this.
Hull is having an acceleration of growth. This is shown in the level of economic regeneration being put into the city. This includes authorities such as Highways England. Businesses are involved such as Siemens and Arco.
The knock-on effect of this means more local jobs and demands for housing. In turn it increases the need for more direct and reliable transport routes.
Our ambition to become carbon neutral by 2030 will be explored as the LTP develops. The decisions we all make about how and when to travel will influence the impact that has on our city.
The new LTP will focus on -
- a cycling and walking city. We want walking and cycling to be the first choice for short journeys by providing a network of safe and attractive routes across the city
- city transit corridors. An integrated, high quality public transport system will help to keep the city moving and tackle congestion. It will connect different parts of the city and people to -
- jobs
- education
- services
- strategic connectivity. Good transport links are important. We can make the most of the opportunities provided by the Energy City, Port of Hull and the visitor economy
- having a smart green city. Intelligent transport networks will combine technology and carbon neutral or low emission transport infrastructure. This helps residents and businesses to use electric vehicles and alternative fuels more as we move away from petrol and diesel
The LTP can be accessed as live document. It is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the city’s residents and businesses.
