Young Voices Influencing Care

Young Voices Influencing Care is a group for Hull’s children and young people who are looked after between the ages of 10 and 18.

Young Voices Influencing Care gives children and young people opportunities to discuss the things that matter to them. It allows them to have a say in the development of services they receive, as well as helping people to understand what life is like for young people who are looked after.A still from the Dream on film created by the Young Voices Influencing Care group.

Young Voices Influencing Care is a space for children and young people where they can have their say on the things that matter to them. We usually work on themes and issues that children and young people have identified. Previous themes have included -

  • impact of a change of social worker
  • managing contact with family
  • building and maintaining friendships
  • understanding feeling different than other young people
  • addressing and understanding bullying

At Young Voices Influencing Care children and young people are invited to -

  • meet new people who share experiences
  • have their say about the things that matter to them
  • share their views, ideas, and feelings
  • help shape the support and services they receive
  • work on a range of creative projects with other young people
  • represent children and young people in care, both in Hull and at national events
  • feel safe and have fun!
