All maintained schools have a statutory responsibility to support the educational outcomes of Looked After and Previously Looked After Children. School Governors have a statutory responsibility to appoint a Designated Teacher for these children. They must make sure they have training and adequate time in which to fulfil their role. This course aims to equip Designated Teachers to provide the best possible support for these children. This is so that progress is accelerated and they achieve positive outcomes. This course is aimed at equipping newly appointed DTs or those who would like to refresh their practice with the knowledge and understanding needed to support Looked After and Previously Looked After Children.
