Course Information
  • to help carers and workers think about the importance of life story work and how they might undertake this
  • an accurate and truthful account of the child's early life to act as tools for adoptive parents and carers in the process of sharing their life
  • to understand the importance of integrating the past into the future and enable the child to make sense whilst giving context and understanding to the past
  • create a beginning on which to continue to build as the child grows and develops
  • a springboard for the child to ask further questions, make comments and explore their past with their adoptive parents and carers or residential worker
  • the opportunity to fill in the gaps of a child's memory with anecdotal information which would normally be lost if this work was not undertaken
  • to help fulfil the need to know what has gone on before and consolidate thoughts and feelings
  • to look at guidance around letters for later life
