Course Title Trauma sensitive practice with children
Course Information

To support practitioners to reflect on their practice in this context.

An enhanced understanding of trauma can enable practitioners and managers, from all the agencies working with children, to improve their practice with children.

By the end of the course participants will -

  • gain an understanding of what are traumatic events
  • look at adverse childhood experiences and different types of trauma
  • understand impact on a range of areas, including -
    • sensory development
    • disassociation
    • attachment development
    • emotional regulation
    • behavioural, cognition, and self-care identity development
  • consider children’s behaviours and response as attempts to survive
  • look at how we can help children recover and gain trust in relationships
Course length One day (40 minutes to complete the e-learning)
