Working with child sexual abuse in the family environment - Learning and Development courses

This course aims to -

• give professionals the confidence and tools to work with families were there are concerns around sexual abuse
• consider what is involved when working with families in this area
• gain an opportunity to look at different assessment tools to aid understanding regarding harm, danger, strengths, and safety
• provide an understanding of what sexual abuse is, signs symptoms, and short and long term impact on victims
• provide information and experiences of families who have been affected by sexual abuse
• provide information on strategies, tactics used by offenders, both contact and online
• gain an understanding of why victims do not tell, or retract statements
• consider role of denial
• familiarise self with safety plans
