Course Information

The screening and brief intervention training aims to give adults who work with young people more confidence in discussing drugs and alcohol. It aims to develop more of an understanding of what support is available for young people. It also aims to discuss current local and national trends in relation to young people’s substance use.

  • to have an updated knowledge on local drug trends and know the key messages to give to young people
  • identify those at risk and know when threshold has been met for specialist support
  • to increase the confidence of the workforce to have conversations with young people about drugs and alcohol
  • deliver advice and brief interventions and have some tools that can support this
