About the elections

Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected in the general election which is usually held every 5 years.

Each MP serves in the House of Commons. This is based within the Houses of Parliament at Westminster in London.

MPs represent the interests of the people living in their constituency. You can find out details of your local MP, how to contact them, and when they hold their surgeries.

There are 3 constituencies in Hull -

  • Kingston upon Hull East
  • Kingston upon Hull North and Cottingham
  • Kingston upon Hull West and Haltemprice

Key election dates and deadline for applications

Registration

Last date for residents to apply to register to vote in time for the election - Tuesday 18 June at midnight.

Last date for electors to apply for a postal vote for the election - Wednesday 19 June at 5pm.

Voter Authority Certificate

For voters that do not have any of the accepted photographic identification to show to polling station staff.

Polling Day - Thursday 4 July 7am to 10pm

The verification, count and declaration of results will take place following the close of poll at the Guildhall. Access more information on voting.
