Personal education plans

A Personal Education Plan (PEP) is a statutory document that forms an integral part of the care planning process for all children in care.

As a local authority, we facilitate PEP Meetings on a termly basis within an academic year for all children in care from Early Years (FS1) through to Post 16. Professionals involved in social care and education are invited, as well as the young person and key members of their -

  • family
  • carers
  • parents
  • guardians

The premise of a PEP is to form a foundation of a young person's personal, academic and career ambitions, and what we can do as advocates to help them achieve the best possible outcomes.

PEPs in Hull are reviewed on a termly basis and are split in five parts -

  • the Young Person and their views on learning
  • Social Care's information and views
  • the Designated Teacher's information and views
  • the Virtual School's information and views
  • Final Feedback, outcomes and actions from the meeting

The Hull Virtual School facilitate all PEPs using the Electronic Personal Education Plan website - better known as ePEP, which has been commissioned by the local authority since 2012.
