Apply for a pet shop licence
Pet shops and other businesses offering pets for sale must have a valid licence. This licence may set out a number of conditions to secure the wellbeing of the animals.
Application process
You need to -
- complete an application form
- provide a copy of your current liability insurance certificate
- provide details of policies and procedures
Once an application has been received, a council officer will arrange to inspect the premises to ensure it is suitable.

Following a successful inspection and payment, a star rating will be granted. It determines the length of licence given.
