Gambling Act Licensing Policy Statement
Under the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 we are required to produce a Statement of Gambling Licensing Policy. This sets out how we intend to administer the Act. This Policy lasts for a maximum of 3 years.
The current policy came into force in January 2022. This was following a consultation exercise which took place in 2021.

Gambling Act Gaming Machine Categories
A gaming machine is defined by the Gambling Act 2005 as a machine that is designed or adapted for use by individuals to gamble - whether or not it can also be used for other purposes.
Most gaming machines are of the reel-based type. These are also known as -
- fruit machine
- slot machine
- jackpot machine
Gaming machines fall into categories depending on the maximum stake and prize available and certain types of machine can only be made available in specific types of premises.
