Business Rate Reports

During the course of the year we receive many Freedom of Information requests which ask for a list of commercial premises within the city. With effect from 1 December 2015 we publish a report which contains this information that will be updated every 6 months.

Any requests for information contained within these reports received during the course of the year will be directed to this webpage.

The data is limited to the following -

• property reference number
• company name, if registered as such, and address
• property description
• appropriate relief

Information not supplied or redacted -

• account references are not included
• all individual’s names except council staff above the level of City Manager
• liability start date due to the amount of time involved

Due to the way the council’s business rates systems are structured, we are unable to provide liability start dates or write on and offs without individually examining each account and all the properties associated with it. This has not proved to be possible within the time and cost limits set out in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
