Conservation areas

Conservation areas are places of historical or architectural importance. We want to preserve or enhance them. These are not the like listed buildings, as there are no national standards or grades. Local authorities decide which areas to protect.

In Hull, there are 26 conservation areas -

The mapping system My Hull Maps shows the location of each conservation area.

We put together a character appraisal for each area saying what is special about it. You can see these and large-scale maps showing the boundaries of all the conservation areas at The Guildhall, Alfred Gelder Street.

Current public consultations

There are currently no live consultations. The next public consultation is scheduled for Beverley Road Conservation in July to August 2024.

Recent public consultations

Public consultation has been completed on the Spring Bank and Garden Village conservation areas. The final proposals for Spring Bank will be reviewed by planning committee on July 2024 and Garden Village by planning committee & cabinet in September 2024.
