Planning and development

Planners and developers must make sure that future developments are sustainable. They must not increase flood risk to the site being developed or the surrounding area. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out how sustainable development should be delivered. It takes flooding and climate change into account. The NPPF is supported by Planning Practice Guidance. It is our responsibility to put in place national policy into local planning policy.
